Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice

The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Norris, who took the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.

Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.

The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team opted for a unique setup.

Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.

Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the fence.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.

The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.

The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.

The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
