Nearly 25,000 Left Without Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms

Nearly twenty-five thousand households in Queensland's southeast woke up experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the area, generating strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage

Locals reported giant hailstones measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victorian Storm Challenges

At the same time, approximately one thousand energy customers in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its wettest day in a year and a half.

Emergency response teams received over five hundred calls for help across the state, mostly for structural issues but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

• Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous assistance requests
• Wyndham region - over 175 emergency requests

At the height on yesterday, in excess of 28,000 power users in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this week as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with continued storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Health Warning

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the current weather patterns.
